COVID-19 PROCEDURE POLICY
UPDATED FROM 19 JULY
I will keep things mostly the same! The general consensus is that masks help keep people safe. For the time being I shall continue to wear a mask to all appointments as this is being strongly advised for ‘close contact services’ and so I would advise clients do the same.
I will still be sending Covid symptom checks (Health Agreement forms) for you to complete before your appointment as Covid has not gone away. I still ask that windows / patio doors be opened for ventilation as this is a key requirement in the guidelines. Hand washing is still essential. I am double vaccinated and will continue to self test with lateral flow tests twice a week.
I will of course regularly assess these precautions and may ease them if the local case numbers decrease.
Read on for more details of how appointments run.
Booking Appointments
I use Timely as my online booking platform which is easy to use. When booking for the first time, Timely requests your card details to be saved on file for easy check out. Please be assured that this does not take any money up front and your details are held securely. I do not get access to your card details. Please complete and sign any forms you are sent with the booking. The Health Agreement is sent for every appointment, and essential consultation forms are sent for any treatment you have not previously had with me. If you have any issues completing these ahead of your appointment, just let me know and we can go through them at your appointment.
If you or any of your household display any of the known symptoms of COVlD-19 or have been advised to self-isolate – please don’t book, and if you have an appointment, please advise me and re-arrange.
Likewise, if I have symptoms of COVlD-19, or get alerted to self-isolate, I will re-arrange all appointments.
Your Appointment
Arrival
I will limit contact with any touch points in your home and will wash my hands before I set up.
Hand washing
Hand washing is essential for both of us. I ask that you too wash your hands in accordance with NHS recommendations before we start the treatment and if you are having a manicure, where possible use a clean nail brush to clean under the free edge of your nails before the service. Please use paper towels or kitchen towel to dry your hands. I also have hand sanitiser as standard.
Working Area
I will have disinfectant surface wipes but please could you ensure that the table or area at which we would usually sit is clutter free and clean before I set up for your treatment. It is heavily advised to keep the working area ventilated so if you feel comfortable keeping a window open, then please do so.
Masks/PPE
Even though it is now not mandatory to wear a mask, it is still heavily advised during close contact services that last for longer than 15 minutes. As a precaution, and especially while cases are high, I will continue to wear a mask to your appointments for nails, lashes and brows. For pedicures it is not as necessary as the distance between our faces is greater. However if you feel more comfortable wearing a mask and for me to wear a mask then I will do so.
Tools
All tools and equipment will be disinfected or sterilised in line with the specific manufacturers’ instructions between clients.
Prepare Yourself
Please consider pinning your hair away from your face for your manicure to reduce the need to touch your face during your treatment.
If you suffer from allergies that may cause reactions, please take preventative medication ahead of your appointment to minimise any sneezing and coughing during your appointment.
Please also avoid the use of your phone during the manicure service as once your hands are clean they shouldn’t touch anything else without hand washing again before we continue.
Disposal
Wherever possible I will utilise environmentally friendly, single use items during a treatment that will be disposed of safely after use in order to protect you from cross infection. I will give you your own nail files which you can keep at home in a paper envelope until my next visit to you. There will be a fee of £5 for a set of professional files, buffer and nail brush.
All disposable items are bagged and safely disposed of.
Treatments
I have carried out a risk assessment on all treatments and I am confident that I can continue to provide these safely with the measures in place.
Pedicures / Towels
I kindly ask you to provide your own clean towels for pedicures. One to be placed on the floor for under the foot spa and your feet, and 2 smaller towels to wrap your feet in after they’ve been soaked. If you are unable to provide these please let me know before I enter your house so I can bring disposable ones.
Lashes & Brows
I will provide the relaxing recliner for you to sit / lay on and cover this with paper couch roll, however if you would like to cover yourself with a blanket for ultimate relaxation please feel free to do this, but please make sure this is clean. You will be required to wear a mask during this treatment. Patch testing is required before the LVL lash lift treatment and for tinting of the brows if it is your first treatment with me, or it has been 6 months since your last treatment with me, or if there have been any changes to your medical condition. This includes if you have had Covid-19 and if you have had a Covid-19 vaccine. Please advise if this is the case so I can re-test you. It is advised that you wait 2 weeks after having the vaccine before you proceed with a patch test or treatment.
After the treatment
I do still accept cash, however, I would prefer where possible if you could pay for your treatment by card. If you entered your card details when booking in via my online booking system, then I will be able to checkout using this form of payment at the tap of my screen. Alternatively I can take contactless card payments and by Apple/Android pay. Or as a last resort, by bank transfer.
I hope that this reassures you that I am doing everything I can to minimise any risks, and that this is all in place for our safety. If you have any questions at all regarding any aspect of your appointment please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you for your understanding, and I really look forward to seeing you soon.
