How does an Elim Pedicure work?

Elim uses Alkaline Peeling techniques to soften and remove hard skin and calluses. Alkaline peeling offers a safer alternative to the traditional ablative methods such as filing, blading and harsh granular exfoliants.

We know from experience that although these traditional methods offer a short-term solution, the do not provide a sustainable approach to skin health. Harsh granular exfoliants for example can cause discomfort and irritation due to irregular sized particles and the use of salt with dehydrate sin. The action of harsh filing and blading sends a message of trauma to the brain via neural pathways therefore causing overproduction of skin cells which leads to excessive hard skin and the formation of calluses.

The active ingredients used in chemical peels change the pH of the skin, breaking down the protein bonds that bind together the dead skin cells. When performed safely, calluses are effectively treated without stimulating a healing response which would lead to overproduction of the epidermis and hardened skin as see with filing and blading.
